Featured on Apartment Therapy

This week really has been a blast. I think opening an Etsy shop was the best thing I could have done to reach a whole new audience. I just discovered via an order from SanFrancisco that I was featured on Apartment Therapy yesterday after they found my shop. Brilliant!

Spring Flowers

I've been inspired by a bunch of Narcissus or Paperwhites that I bought from the Willow Garden in Hebden Bridge (best flower shop in the world) the other day. Thay are very smelly but BEAUTIFUL. I thought I'd do some Spring flower designs. I love snowdrops. I think the Snowdrop design will look lovely on a really small lamp and the Narcissus needs to be TALL....D'you know what -I'm very happy at the moment! Business is booming, Spring is on the way. It's all good!:)

'Day in the life of Hannah Nunn'...on Indie Quarter

Have you seen the 'Day In The Life of...' feature on design blog Indie Quarter. This regular post gives a sneaky peak into the everyday lives of artists and makers. It's really interesting to find out what people get up to in their lives and businesses. This week it's all about me! Thankyou Indie Quarter!

A walk in Nutclough woods

I've just been for a very refreshing walk up to Nutclough Woods with my camera. It's a bit nippy out there today but that bracing walk up the hill soon warmed me up! We're really lucky in Hebden Bridge to have so many walks, long and short, surrounding the town. This is one of my favourite ones. I was hoping to see some Snowdrops as I'm going to do some new Spring designs but I'm a little early...there were a few little green shoots though....

He has an Etsy shop JuniperJeffries (i love the name) where he sells a range of cards that you can print and fold yoursel via PDF. Have a look....

Daisies and Dragonflies

Well it's been a miserable, cold, wet, dark winter day outside today but in my studio it's been like summer as I've been cutting daisies and dragonflies.

Hello Big Wide World!

It's been a lovely couple of days in post Design Sponge busyness. Things went global overnight after being featured on the site and I've been making lamps for lovely people in Denmark, Finland, Canada, California, Idaho, San francisco and more. This pleases me. Theres a big world out there and it's exciting to have reached a little more of it!

I had a couple of trade enquiries from some exciting boutiques too. Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced way of bulk shipping from the U.K to U.S. It seems frightfully expensive. Any recomendations welcomed!

lovely new purse

As I was walking to the post office today I thought to myself that i needed a different purse to keep all my postage/business money seperate from my ordinary money. I draw out money to do my postage and then it all gets mixed up and confusing. Then I thought about this lovely artists work that I spotted on Etsy the other day and thought I'd treat myself. Her name is Lotta Helleburg and I think her work is beautiful. Her blog is lovely too so I've added it to my artists blog list. I never need to get my money mixed up again!

Happy to be featured on Design Sponge!

I am SO happy to have been featured on the wonderful Design Sponge blog today. I've been enjoying this inspiring site for many years.

Grace Bonney, the editor said "these beautiful cut-paper lamps are from from british designer hannah nunn. based in yorkshire, england, hannah handmakes her papercut table lamps with delicate botanical motifs inspired by the natural world. i love the soft glow each piece gives off and the sweetness of each design- i love being able to see an artist’s hand in their work. hannah has a background in making silhouette-based papercut greeting cards (which she used to sell in harrods and liberty) and thought it would be beautiful to see light shine through her designs. after testing out her concept, she came up with these beautiful paper lamps that she now sells at her etsy shop, and her own craft boutiqueradiancein the uk. click here to check out hannah’s main website, here for her blog, and here for her etsy shop. her lighting at the etsy shop ranges from $83-$98 and is simply beautiful."

So, Obama gets made president and I'm featured on Design Sponge all in the same day. I think you could call today a good one!

Fern

I have been working on fern design. May not be able to use it on my ordinary cylindrical lamps and the size of the leaf distorts the shape of the cylinder and makes it looks squashed. It will have to be for oval shapes only.

Hannah Nunn Lamps at Home

The first 'Hannah Nunn Lamps at Home' picture has come in. Thanks Dad! It shows one of my old floor lamp designs. I still get asked for them a lot but I had awful trouble making them. I kept losing them to the laminating machine and it was very upsetting after the amount of care that went into cutting them. In the end I decided to stop making them. Boo hoo! They were great while they lasted. If you have one they're very rare...not many of them out there! Do send your pictures! Remember I'll give you a voucher for 10% off further sales...well it's something isn't it!

I have my very own Etsy Shop!

I'm very excited! I have just created my Etsy shop. I've been wanting to join the Etsy community for sometime and have been a member for months being inspired by vast and varied selection of work by makers from around the globe and collecting my favourite sellers in my favourites list. Today I took some new photos which i was pleased with and I have added a few of my products to the site. Tomorrow I am going to take some more. I'm just having a glass of wine in celebration! Cheers!

Dragonflies

I've been working on a commission for a dragonfly lamp today. I'm not sure about it yet....I like the bullrushes and i like the texture of the wings but there's something missing.... i think he needs antenna. They only have little ones..... I'll carry on tomorrow....hmmmmmm.

Nice to be back in the workshop

I finally got back in the workshop after the holidays and then being at home with a cold! Despite my resistance it was lovely to be back! I've been making the first order of the year for Mooch in Buckingham and putting some stuff together for Leeds Craft Centre and Design Gallery.

Your Lamps In Your Homes

Did anyone get a Hannah Lamp for Christmas? If you did I would LOVE to hear from you. I am always intrigued to see what they look like in all the myriad of different homes that they go to. Occasionaly I pass a house in Hebden Bridge that has one in and it's really nice to see! So if you have one of my lamps in your house and you could take a quick snap of it and send it to me that would be wonderful! As a thankyou I'll give you a 10% discount on any further purchases that you make in the next year. Some of them I'll feature here on the blog.

Email your pictures to me and let me know your name, where you live, where you bought your lamp from.... and anything else that you'd like to say!

Many thanks in advance! x

Happy New Year

Hello everyone. Happy New Year. Theres a bit of a 'oh no it's the last day of the holidays' feeling in the air today...the last Sunday before school starts again. It's been such a lovely holiday. I've had a lovely cosy Christmas and a fab New Year in beautiful but freezing Holland. I'm quite fired up about getting back into work but I'm FULL of cold and need to stay in the warm to get better...

Did anyone get anything nice for Christmas? Amongst many lovely things my daughter got me a gorgeous memory game. I used to have the Galt Toys 'Remember Remember' when i was little and it was one of my favourite games. We found this very similar set in Magma with beautiful illustrations by Charley Harper. I'd never even heard of him before and have just discoved via Wikipedia that he died in 2007! Anyway we've had fun testing our memory and looking at all his lovely pictures!

Hey if you got one of my lamps for Christmas I would love to see a photo of it in it's new home. I'll put it on the blog. Go on send me a picture...it doesn't have to be a great one or anything. It would make me very happy. What do you think????
